Treatment of Allergic Rhinitis
Treatments include environmental avoidance, medications and/or allergen immunotherapy.

Evaluation of Asthma & Other Conditions
A thorough history taking, physical examination and spirometry will be completed.

Peak Flow Meter Demonstration
Proper technique for use of peak flow meters which can be helpful in home monitoring of asthma.

Oral (Open) Food Challenge
Testing includes incremental administration of food in the controlled environment of the office to determine presence of true food allergy.

MMR/Influenza Vaccines
Testing includes an allergy skin test with MMR or influenza vaccine for patients with egg allergy who may be likely to react to the MMR or influenza vaccines.

Inhaler Usage Demonstration
Inhalers can be ineffective if not used with proper technique. Use of spacers or spacers with masks makes it more effective and reduces side effects of inhaled medications.

Penicillin Skin Tests
Initial Pricks followed by intradermal injections of penicillin allergens to determine penicillin sensitivity. Usually requires half a day to complete testing. Results are known at the end of the visit.

Oral Antibiotic Challenge
Oral incremental admin. of antibiotic in the office to facilitate future use of antibiotics in selected patients. Usually requires half a day to complete testing. Results are known at the end of the visit.

Local Anesthetic Skin Tests
Prick and incremental intradermal injection test to determine allergy to local anesthetics. Usually requires half a day. Results are known at the end of the visit.

Local Anesthetic Challenge
Testing includes incremental injections of local anesthetics to facilitate future administration of anesthetic during surgical procedures. Usually requires half a day. Results are known at the end of the visit.

Venom Skin Tests
Initial pricks followed by intradermal injections determine patient's allergic sensitivity to bees, wasps, hornets and yellow jackets. Usually performed on the back and requires a half day to complete testing.

Patch Test
Patch testing is performed to diagnose contact allergies by testing 29 commercial allergens. Paper patches with embedded allergens are applied to the back and left on for 48 hours. Test is read at 48, 72 and 96 hours.

Allergen Immunotherapy
Series of subcutaneous injections are administered in the office to desensitize patients to what they are allergic to. There is about 80% success rate with this treatment. This treatment helps nose/sinus symptoms, allergy induced asthma and allergen triggered eczema.

Environmental Allergy Skin Tests
Skin tests are usually performed on the back in adults and on the arms in young children. The test is performed by placing drops of allergen extracts on the skin and then pricking through the allergens - pricks are superficial and not very painful.
